Chef Hass Bazzy

Royale’s atmosphere is casual, fun, and family friendly: but the food is gourmet. The creative mind behind Royale’s one-of-a-kind creations is Chef Hass Bazzy, a product of the Art Institute of Michigan’s Culinary Arts Program. Chef Hass made a name for himself as a prominent chef in Metro Detroit’s fine dining scene, highlighted by his tenure as the Executive Chef at the prestigious Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club. Chef Hass brought his own unique flair to every kitchen he has oversaw, which made him one of the most popular young chefs in the area. His unique background has shaped his approach to creating menu items. Chef Hass was born in raised in Sierra Leone (West Africa), and lived in Lebanon before immigrating to Metro Detroit. This experience exposed Hass to the diverse and flavorful cuisines of West Africa and the Middle East. Chef Hass has worked in several of Metro Detroit’s most famous kitchens including Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor, and Habib’s Cuisine in Dearborn.

Chef Hass also spent time at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers as a chef for Delaware North, which operates food services and concessions at several stadiums and arenas across the country. This gave him valuable experience serving large crowds, and ensuring orders were completed with accuracy and consistency. Royale with Cheese is the culmination of his culinary journey. Each menu item was carefully crafted and each ingredient serves a specific purpose. Chef Hass makes it a point to meet and greet customers, especially first time diners. Hass and his business partner Moe Ettaher consider themselves ambassadors of Detroit wherever they go, promoting a positive image of the city and its great people. As a proud alumnus of Wayne State University’s School of Pharmacy, Moe’s connection to the neighborhood is a special one. As childhood friends, Moe and Hass dreamed of opening a business together and Royale marks the realization of that dream. Operating a successful business while giving back to the community makes their joint-venture very rewarding.
